May Edition: Rituals and Routines We Love
As busy entrepreneurs, we constantly seek ways to save time and still invest in self-care. (Hey, that’s partly why we created Covey!) And though we wish we had all of the answers, we know how important it is to learn from lifestyle experts who share their perspectives and unique stories.
That’s why we set aside a few minutes — you know, while waiting in line at Starbucks or for a Zoom call to get going — to seek inspiration from around the web. We’re not the only ones geeking out over the value and importance of simplified routines and rituals, and we’re fascinated by the creative ways people maximize and prioritize their time. Every month, we’ll be sharing our favorite learnings that will hopefully make every aspect of your life easier and happier.
First up, our May picks:
From Queen Oprah herself:
Oprah’s morning routine isn’t going to fit into our schedules anytime soon, but we love how she reads inspirational quotes while her coffee is brewing instead of scrolling social media. We’re planning to try and add this when we can into our routines.
From celeb makeup artist Misha Shahzada:
Good news for our pores: We're all wearing less makeup these days! However, it can be tricky to feel ‘Zoom ready’ for an important call without doing a full face of glam. No worries: it can be done! Misha Shahzada, a global celebrity makeup artist, breaks down her three essential makeup routine steps. (We’re obsessed.)
From Emily DiDonato, Covey co-founder:
We are counting down the days until the sun stays shining all day, but until then, a treadmill does the trick. This month, Emily has been getting back into running, and this routine has quickly become her cardio go-to:
- Jog for 5 minutes 4.5 MPH
- Walk for 1 minute at 3.0
- Jog/run for 1 minute at 6.0
- Sprint for 1 minute at 9.0
(Psst: Complete your workout with a running playlist here.)
From Kristina Lynne from The Everygirl:
Our co-founder, Christina Garcia, just moved into a new apartment in New York City and wanted to elevate her coffee table with some books. These make the ideal morning or evening routine when she needs a moment of ‘calm’ of the chaos. These four easy tips gave her the exact guidance she needed.
From Karen from The Food Charlatan:
Our diets are an essential part of our food and routine. However, it can be an uphill battle to come up with new recipe ideas when you’re cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner on repeat. For some food inspo, try this ridiculously easy, 30-Minute Creamy Tuscan Salmon recipe. Christina made it last week with her mother-in-law and loved both the flavor… and only having to clean up one pan!
